To chase and possess not

In almost every fairy tale it's the man who pursues the women, and yet in real life men are seldom so attentive. Aside from the dramatic "ask out" women receive in movies, I have yet to hear a story of when asking someone out was so melodramatic: usually it's "do you want to go out with me ?" and the reply is either a "yes" or "I want to be friends." For men, the latter can be accompanied by not answering the phone when he calls or simply not returning his calls at all.

So what happens if a woman pursues as man as intently as a man might a woman? Would it be just as thrilling to talk about with your friends ? I have yet to meet a man would be pleased at a woman asked him out*.

And yet when a man doesn't call back her back, the woman tells her friends he's not on the same category as she is. On some level, however, she feels slightly insulted that he didn't call even if she didn't think he was attractive.

The moral of the story: women still want to be chased (unless it's by a really ugly man with a horrible personality and broke, in which case the answer is always no).


*Flirting is different from a direct ask out, so flirting is merely an invitation to ask someone out, not the actual ask out itself.
